Discussed are problems of modern editorial education and the market requirements for the “editor” category. The authors examined the competencies of a classical and network editor, and the possibilities of combining them in one official position. The necessity of knowledge and compliance with ethical and legal norms in the work of the editor in any field of production and dissemination of information is shown.
