The activities of teachers and lecturer at the university in organizing and conducting the educational process for natural science areas of study include the mandatory development and regular updating of tasks and assignments of a fund of assessment tools for various target groups. In this work, using the example of chemical disciplines, an assessment was made of the use of mathematical apparatus in a set of textbooks for general education using the example of the topic “solutions,” which is one of the key topics in chemical courses. The article discusses the experience of constructing a typology of tasks into account the competency-based approach in the development of control materials for actual control of learning, for Olympiad tasks and for banks of test tasks and exercises. Both subject and mathematical aspects of the solution are considered as criteria for the complexity of the problem. The theory of fuzzy sets is proposed to algorithmize the complexity of solving problems composed taking into account linguistic uncertainty. To calculate criteria for assessing the complexity of problems and calculate the numerical value of the membership function of a fuzzy set, a system of equations of fuzzy sets for a U-shaped membership function is used.
